New archabbot in St. Ottilien is Fr. Wolfgang Oxler.

Dear confreres,
Today the community of St. Ottilien has elected Fr. Wolfgang Oxel as its new Archabbot. Since October this year the community has been without an Abbot following the election of the former Archabbot Jeremias Schroder to the office of the President of the Congregation. The new Archabbot Wolfgang Oxel was born on 1st May 1957 in Dillingen (diocese of Augsburg), Germany. He made his first monastic profession in September 1980 and was ordained to the Priesthood in 1988. For many years he has been involved in pastoral activities in the retreat house including counselling and preaching of retreats. During the time of his election Fr. Wolfgang was the Prior of the community in Jakobsberg. We congratulate him and wish him and the entire community of St. Ottilien God’s guidance into the future.

der Konvent von St. Ottilien hat heute P. Wolfgang Oxler zum neuen Erzabt von St. Ottilien gewahlt.
Unter Glockengelaut wurde er am Nachmittag in der Abteikirche vorgestellt.
